This session will highlight the ways America's religious and social cultures have impacted the trajectory of American Judaism and Jewish family life. Among the topics that will be addressed are state and religion, religion coercion and the lack thereof, market-driven religious life, social boundaries – endogamy (in-marriage) and exogamy (intermarriage), and the various ways of defining the key religious streams or sectors.
