Kavod/Glory - and its woes

The weeks in between Passover and Shavuot traditionally include the study of Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Fathers).
Join us as we explore the depth, meaning and relevance of some of Judaism's most fundamental ethical teachings and maxims.

This session will be led by Professor Hillel Furstenberg, the first Israeli to win the Abel Prize which is considered the Nobel of Mathematics.
Prof. Furstenberg will study the saying from Pirkei Avot: "Rabbi Elazar Ha-kappar said: envy, lust and [the desire for] honor put a man out of the world"
The discussion following this saying will consider the results of chasing after glory, from the unique perspective of the mathematician.
