--------
Rav Avraham Yitzhak Ha-Cohen Kook (1865-1935), one of the most bold Jewish thinkers of modern times, laid the foundation for much of Jewish life in Israel today. He tried to embrace and reconcile the conflicting currents of modernity – faith and heresy, nationalism and universalism, tradition and revolution.
