Parashat Korach
June 11, 2021
Prof. Rabbi Dalia Marx meets with Efrat Assaf-Shapira, deputy curator of the Jewish Art and Life Wing. This Saturday we read Parashat Korach, which describes a series of revolts and how they were dealt with.
Korach and his allies ceased to exist on earth when the earth opened up and swallowed them. In this meeting we will try to understand what happens in the underworld, and how Jewish tradition deals with the tension between joy and mourning, and life and death. Biblical sources and Jewish folklore objects will demonstrate to us the attitude towards the world of the dead and preservation of the living.
Venue: The Rhythm of Life Hall in the Jewish Art and Life Wing
