Standing by the picture "The Dismissal of Hagar" by Jan Victors, Prof. Avigdor Shinan and curator Shlomit Steinberg will talk about the life of Sarah.
From the disparities between her image in the picture and the way she is described in the Jewish sources, we will try to understand her place within the complex relationship with Avraham and Hagar.

The Israel Museum is hosting Beit Avi Chai for a series of meetings that include a slightly different conversation about the weekly Torah portion.
Every week, Prof. Avigdor Shinan or Rabbi Prof. Dalia Marx will talk with the museum's curators about the notable figures and topics that arise from the week's parashah or haftara. The meetings are filmed in the natural environment of the works and exhibits in the museum halls. In this way the Jewish texts and their interpretations are examined against the world of images and museum exhibits, and the combinations create a new and completely unconventional point of view.
