Flying rocks and pillars of salt will be presented in a talk by Prof. Avigdor Shinan and curator Efrat Aharon.
The two will study together the biblical story of Lot's wife and her end as a pillar of salt, and discuss the connection between her and Magritte's wonderful works, which also capture moments frozen in time.

The Israel Museum is hosting Beit Avi Chai for a series of meetings that include a slightly different conversation about the weekly Torah portion.
Every week, Prof. Avigdor Shinan or Rabbi Prof. Dalia Marx will talk with the museum's curators about the notable figures and topics that arise from the week's parashah or haftara. The meetings are filmed in the natural environment of the works and exhibits in the museum halls. In this way the Jewish texts and their interpretations are examined against the world of images and museum exhibits, and the combinations create a new and completely unconventional point of view.
